The Pilot Sport is designed to extend vehicle capabilities in the wet, while providing progressive handling, exceptional feedback and refined road manners on dry roads. The Pilot Sport is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. The Pilot Sport molds Michelin's Advanced Technology tread compound into one of two designs. While all Pilot Sport tires feature a continuous circumferential center rib flanked by directional tread patterns, tires in sizes of up to 265 millimeters of section width feature a "V"-shaped pattern, while tires of 275 millimeters of section width and wider feature a "W"-shaped tread pattern. The continuous center rib sharpens steering response and provides communicative road feel while the swept back lateral grooves efficiently evacuate water from under the contact patch to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction while reducing tire noise on dry roads. The tire's structure includes two belts made of high-tensile, lightweight steel cords which are further reinforced by size-optimized, spirally wrapped nylon cord utilizing BAZ (Banded At Zero) Technology to improve quick steering response and resist distortion while they enhance ride quality and high-speed durability. Ultra-reinforced sidewalls promote powerful cornering, while Michelin's cable beads help maintain the ideal shape of a running tire for better tire/wheel uniformity. Click For Price Customer Reviews These tires Rock! I see that some people have found fault in these tires? I do not understand. When people pay premium prices to obtain cars that have superior handling characteristics, they are obligated to equip these cars with the shoes of an athlete or face a direct reduction in driving proformance. I do not see how a 10% to 20% savings on the price of my tire, or a 20% reduction in wear of tires would merit me buying a tire that would lower the handling capabilities of my car by 20% or 30%...the car that I paid a 40% or 50% premium to purchase for its driving characteristics. And some tires work with certain cars better than others. These cars seem to be a perfict fit for BMW's and Porshes as well as some other cars. When there is an occasional car that does not do well with these tires, that car is the main factor vs. the dominant amount of information that suggests these tires to be superior in all ways to any brand in a similar price lange. Not to be rude, but people who own Dodges or tail slippery Corvettes might rip on these tires because their cars eat tread at faster rates do to rear to front weight imbalances. That is why cost is important to those owners. I would argue that most sports cars would be at their best with these tires and the wear and function are 2nd to none. Anyone who has owned Conti Sports or other cheaper versions of this tire has noticed a direct loss of proformance and heightened wear that came with the savings. If you want to spend less money on tires, buy a Honda. |
