Pilot Exalto A/S radials are the entry-level High Performance All-Season members of Michelin's Pilot family of performance tires. Pilot Exalto A/S radials are designed for sports cars, coupes and sedans to blend responsive handling and long wear with year-round traction, even in light snow. On the outside, Pilot Exalto A/S tires feature Michelin's Life Maximized All-Season Adherence Compounding (formulated to balance dry grip, wet traction, light snow traction, and tread wear) molded into a directional tread design to provide handling in nearly every weather condition. Siped independent tread blocks combined with wide circumferential grooves and variable width lateral tread grooves help eject water from under the contact patch to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. Internally, the Pilot Exalto A/S radial's twin steel belts are reinforced using Michelin's Banded At Zero (BAZ) technology (spiral-wrapped reinforcement) to stabilize the tread area, allowing it to withstand centrifugal forces at high speeds while minimizing tire weight and improving ride uniformity. Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires feature black sidewall styling with black letters reversed out of a circumferential serrated band.

I have always been of the opinion that no matter what car you drive,you should always purchase the best tire you could afford. After reading several reviews it was a toss up between the Pilot Exalto or the Yokohama Avid HVS for my 92 Accord.Both had excellent reviews and I had the chance to drive a 90 Accord with the Yokohamas and a 91 Accord with the Exaltos.The Exaltos were 205 60 15 while the Yokos were 195 65 15.Both had about 20 000 kms of wear on them. The Exaltos delivered a much better steering response and road feel and the cornering felt tight and secure.They were very good in the rain as I drove at 110 km/h(about 70 mph)on a very wet highway.It was in the rain that the Yokos really excelled,they felt slightly more secure to the Exaltos. In the end I choose the Exaltos because they outperformed the Yokos in road feel, steering response,cornering and noise levels.(I am sound sensitive and cannot tolerate loud tires).The wet grip was close, but not enough of a difference to sway me to the Avid H4s. So my immaculate ,rust free 92 Accord with 150 000 kms on it(about 90 000 miles),drives and handles like an expensive sports sedan.The car was purchased for 1800 hundred dollars.The Exaltos including taxes and installation were 650 dollars. Yes, that's over 40% of the cost of the car.Well worth the comfort, security and fun these tires will provide for many years to come.Cheap tires will make a cheap car horrible, while a set of good tires will transform your clunker into a great ride.No matter what you drive, never skimp on tires.
