Tire Description

The Pilot Alpin PA2 is Michelin's Performance Winter / Snow tire developed to meet the needs of driving enthusiasts by combining dry road performance and foul weather traction in cold-weather conditions. The Pilot Alpin PA2 molds a tread rubber compound that remains flexible at lower temperatures for greater grip, into a high-contact tread design. The tread blocks feature Michelin's "Bi-Directional Sipes System" technology that enhances performance on wet, snow-packed and icy roads. The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by Michelin's size-optimized BAZ technology where nylon cord is Banded At Zero degrees to the direction of travel. The Pilot Alpin PA2 winter / snow radials meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the mountain/snowflake symbol. The Pilot Alpin PA2 tires feature winter wear indicators to identify when wear prevents the remaining tread depth from providing beneficial snow performance. Install Pilot Alpin PA2 tires in sets of four only.

What great tires! My summer tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE750 225/45R17 91Ws and my wife has been complaining about the noisy and rough ride since we got the vehicle. These are sooo much quieter and smoother on dry pavement. The noise level has dropped significantly at speed (85-95 Hwy) and rough pavement is no longer the mine field it has been. The bonus is the performance in snow and on ice. We got our first snow 2 days after I got them put on and another followed two days later and then more two days after that. With the intermittent sun we got ice and packed snow quickly and consistently. The traction was nothing short of amazing on both snow and ice. They are a bit vague on dry pavement (still breaking in,will update post later), nothing like the rails the Potenzas are, but Im very happy to have the traction and control in adverse conditions and the quiet ride is a welcome change. The guys at Tire Rack called to be sure I wanted the 60 profile rather than the 55s they say they see mostly but my installer suggested them and Im really happy with them. (He runs them on his Aero wagon.)
