Latitude X-ICE winter tires are designed to combine X-tra ice and snow traction with enhanced handling on wet and dry roads. The Latitude X-ICE molds an advanced silica-based winter tread rubber compound that remains flexible at lower temperatures into a directional tread design that helps maintain good traction on wet and slush-covered roads. It features Cross Z-Sipes Technology to increase tread and shoulder block stability and provide the lateral and longitudinal stiffness for better handling on dry and wet roads and more grip on ice- and snow-covered roads. The Latitude X-ICE winter tire's combination of capabilities is made possible by Michelin's Stress Equilibrium casing that evenly distributes the contact forces across the footprint. Latitude X-ICE winter tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with mountain/snowflake symbol. NOTE: Snow platform indicators (the equivalent of "snow wearbars") are molded into the Latitude X-ICE's tread grooves to inform the driver when ice and snow traction will be reduced as the tire's tread wear reaches the point where the remaining tread depth becomes less effective in deep snow. Click For Price Customer Reviews It's only 2500 miles and they're on the back of my non-4wd truck so I don't know how to rate the steering, but I got these after our first 18" snow in DC. Thank ---. It just snowed 4" and then another 26" this weekend and we're getting another 8-10" tomorrow. On the I495 (maybe the flask of bourbon had a little to do with it) I was cruising down the unplowed land (about 3" of loose powder) at 75mph while sedans were creeping at 40mph in the cleared lane. I did get stuck in the 2'+ in my driveway, but the old General Grabbers and ContiContacts wouldn't have EVER broken loose from the snowy grip of my inclined drive. Last year I had to park a half mile away in a Giant parking lot and walk to my house when it snowed 4" one morning. These tires allow me to be That Guy out there driving and fishtailing around unplowed roads and intersections. THANK YOU Michelin! I am concerned that when the winter winds down and I return to full-time highway driving and running down gravel roads to fish in the sweltering Virginia summers, these tires may wear exceeding fast, but so far they look like they're brand new still and I've had to spin them a couple times to get out of black ice slicks. I still wouldn't drive up the mountains in West Virginia to go snowboarding, but these are the best I can do without getting a real truck with 4WD or even a front-wheel drive vehicle with traction control. |
