The Latitude Sport is Michelin’s Street/Sport Truck Summer tire initially developed for Original Equipment (O.E.) use on some of the world's most prestigious high performance crossover and sport utility vehicles (Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg). The Latitude Sport is designed to deliver world-class dry and wet road traction, handling and cornering but like all summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. Latitude Sport tires share the asymmetric tread pattern and dual tread compounds of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Max Performance Summer tires for passenger cars. It features a hybrid silica/carbon black compound that begins at the tire's outboard shoulder and continues across the tread to enhance dry traction where a high-silica compound continues to the tire's inboard shoulder to enhance wet traction. Large outboard shoulder blocks along with continuous intermediate and center ribs enhance steering response and cornering stability while wide circumferential grooves and lateral notches help channel water to enhance wet road traction. The tires’ internal structure includes two high-tensile, steel cord belts that are further reinforced by size-optimized, precisely placed individual aramid/nylon hybrid filaments that resist tire distortion to provide high-speed durability and enhanced ride quality.

This tire is so superior to the latitude Touring HP that its almost embarrasing. Like the PS2 this tire seems to have velcro for tread. Maximum cornering levels, stopping distances, hydroplaning resistance and steering response are an order of magnitude better than the touring version. Noise levels are also better plus I haven't noticed any additional ride harshness. In summary the Latitude sport is at leas twice the tire than the touring for just a slight money premium. The latitude touring was already hydroplaning excessively after 150000 miles and at 20 had developed an annoying woo woo noise on certain road surfaces, furthermore, its snow performance is at best mediocre when new. Living in WI and having to deal with long snowy winters I had already decided to use dedicated snow tires next season, therefor the latitude sport were a no brainer for summer. I dont expect great treadwear, but its superior performance is more than worth the price. hs is no doubt the finest tire available for a sport SUV in the market hands down. I just wish that michelin offered the pilot sport alpin in the MDX size since this winter my RL amply proved that it the winter version of the PS2. The snow performance is excellent while its sport dimension is also splendid. In my expirience, it puts the blizzak LM25 to shame. BTW while I'm at it it would be great if michelin offered the PS2 in a size that would fit the front of my s2000 not just the rears!
