The HydroEdge radial is Michelin's premium Passenger All-Season tire designed to meet the needs of the drivers of family coupes, sedans and minivans. It was developed to be a very versatile tire by combining long wear with hydroplaning resistance and year-round traction, even in light snow. On the outside, the HydroEdge radial features a silica-enhanced tread compound molded into a directional tread design to blend dry and wet road traction with long wear. Dual circumferential center grooves and angled HydroChutes combine to pump water from under the tire's footprint to increase hydroplaning resistance. On the inside, the HydroEdge radial's polyester cord body and twin steel belts help deliver a smooth ride along with strength and durability.

I have put the hyrdoedege tires on several heavy MB (S600)(4 cars), and Cad (One car). Compared to any other tires, the traction is superior in all conditions, particularly in wet conditions. The ride is great, and it is very quiet. (Usually ride with windows closed.) And, the tread wear is amazingly good, particularly compared to the standard Michelin MXV4, which is the tire recommended by MB, and a good tire, except for a short tread life, usually about 20 k miles. I tried the Hydroedge, after reading some reviews, and being annoyed at the rapid wear on the MXV4. Seemed like I needed to get a new set of them every 3 to 6 months. (I am sure it was more time, but it seemed all too frequent.) Have not replaced or worn out any of the hydroedges. (Can not even remember the face of the tire man, and used to consider him one of the family.) I have nothing but good to say about these tires, and i have used them for over 5 years on 5 cars, and at least 40,000 miles on some cars. Even the 40k tires still have good tread and traction. I suspect I will get the predicted 80k miles from each set. Best tires I have ever owned, by far for the heavy car. Have not tired them as a performance car tire, such as a Porsche, or other type like suv, or crossover. Did put the Michelin LT4 on a '98 suburban 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive, dramatically improved the ride, and the traction, decreased the noise. Had them for 4 years, and 15k miles. Look new. also great tires, compared to any other tire I have had on a suburban. Both types of Michilen types use a silicone technology to give these good results in so many different important areas of performance. I think they are all a best buy, for both performance, wear and cost.
