I should have had the alignment checked at 11,500 miles as it is covered by warranty up to 12,000. As an ex-toyota master tech I have no excuse. I noticed the slight feathering on the outside edges of the front tires. I even ran my palm across the face of the tires and noticed the difference in smoothness between rubbing toward the inside as opposed to rubbing toward the outside, a sure sign of the toe adjustment being out of specs. I did have a four wheel alignment done when the truck was in an accident at about 30,000 but the damage had been done by then. The steering is now off center ( excessive curb tapping ). I cannot find fault with these tires considering I gave them less than optimal care. I just wonder how many of you out there get a before and after adjustment printout of the alignment when putting new tires on? All good alignment machines have this capability. How can you truly say a tire wore out too soon if your car has been out of alignment for 30,000 miles? Just a thought to consider. As far as Toyota Highlanders are concerned I have to say these are a good match. Please note if you align your vehicle when purchasing new tires and if you received a printout of before and after as this will help me when determining durability of tires. I hope these tips will help you save money and help you get the best handling out of your car and the rest of us real useful information to make a better decision when puchasing tires!
